Conflict Resolution Skills: Aikido-Yoga's non-aggressive approach to self-defence offers an alternative and sustainable approach to conflict resolution that takes into consideration the long-term welfare of everyone concerned. It also offers a non-violent way for your children to be able to effectively deal with the real threat of violence that exists in today's volatile world.

Benefits of Aikido-Yoga: Aikido-Yoga is a seamless integration of the Japanese martial-art of Aikido with the ancient science of Yoga. Through the adoption of yogic concepts, traditional self-defence training is integrated with practical strengthening and stretching exercises, breathing and meditation in order to promote emotional well-being, health and vitality.

Aikido-Yoga is a fun, non-violent art form that effectively facilitates both boys and girls physical, emotional and mental development. As a result, they become much more self-confident, remain calm under pressure, and are therefore able to absorb knowledge easier. This translates to greater focus at school, and higher grades.

The training is designed to be fun, and encourages a cooperative spirit among all participants. It instructs in effective principles and means of self-defence without punching and kicking, and promotes physical fitness while increasing flexibility and coordination. Physical fitness, confidence, the development of a healthy lifestyle, and a strong emphasis on safety, manners and etiquette are integral components of Aikido-Yoga training.

Parent Testimonials:

  • “One of the best decisions I have made as a parent for my 9yr old daughter and 5 year old son. The growth and development I have seen in the children over the past 15 months has been invaluable. The remarkable improvements have been in their confidence levels, belief in self, self-defence, ability to take responsibility for their own actions, fitness, co-ordination, respect for others, discipline. Many skills have been learnt that they use in their day to day lives. Real life issues such as bullying are incorporated into the classes. As a parent I have gained so much knowledge and insight from watching most of the sessions... this has helped me become a better person and parent. I cannot recommend Aikido-Yoga and Julius enough. You and your child will not regret the decision.” [Simone]
  • “It was through family that we came across Aikido-Yoga. I wasn't sure what to expect but after my 7 year old son's first session we were convinced we had made a great decision. With every lesson, through the philosophy of Aikido and an amazing teacher, my son continues to grow and learn skills that will assist him to live a full and wonderful life. Julius shares his knowledge and experience with the students like no other teacher I've ever seen.” [Kelly]
  • “Our son Jordon is 7 years old and we chose Aikido-Yoga as we believe that it will teach our son how to be at peace with himself and with everyone around him. We travel 45 minutes twice a week, and the lessons taught here are important enough for the drive. Our son has so much respect for Julius that when I suggest that we might not be able to go to Aikido-Yoga on Saturday, he starts crying. Our son has started many hobbies and has given up on them, but L've never seen such enthusiasm when it comes to Aikido-Yoga. It's been 11 months now and he hasn't lost interest, it has only enticed him to come more regularly and practice at home. There is only one person in our eyes that has made this happen... and that is Julius. He's got an amazing connection with children. I'm an adult observing and I find at times I'm telling myself I wish I had a teacher like that when I was my son's age.” [Rosemary]
  • “We discovered the Aikido-Yoga class just by chance more than 2 years ago. Ari, our son, started his lessons as a trial with the simple objective of doing some exercise. Very soon we found that the time he spent with his Aikido-Yoga classmates is not just about moving your body and sweating. This is about life! It's about how to live your life enyoying every minute of it. And it is not just for the kids. If you are a parent, you love to stay, watch, listen, there is always something amazing to learn..” [Mum]

THE RIGHT PATH

[ Poem written by Jeanne – age 13 from the Aikido-Yoga kids class ]

There is a time in fate,
Where the main road separates
Into two new pathways
Both of them blanketed in a dense spray

Each route is jagged and bent, though straight they seem,
Alive and flowing, like endless streams.
Yet, which one should I take?
If I cannot see through a mist so opaque.

Here, fear blinds my heart as I begin to stiffen
Worrying about which route should be taken.
Will my path be a fairylike tale dressed in glory?
Or will it turn out to be a dreaded long forgotten story?

I hear the mild singing of a river flowing,
As I stand in the cool shade of the trees, wondering
What should lie behind each bend
Of these two paths with no end.

I Feel the softness of the warm wind blowing
And faintly hear its serene whispering,
As if it was trying to give me an answer
Through its gentle and meek whisper

Finally I chose with no regret,
And without so much of a fret,
The path least journey by
Because I know it will make a difference...

[ Poem written by Jeanne – age 13 from the Aikido-Yoga kids class as a parting gift the day before her departure to live in France.]
