About the Chief Instructor Mr. Julius Aib, Chief Instructor at the Aikido-Yoga centre, has studied Eastern martial-arts and philosophy for over 33 years, the last 23 of which have been devoted to Aikido. He has also studied Yoga extensively in India. He is the founder and Chief Instructor of World Aikido-Yoga, and is also the founder and president of the Aikido Takemusu Federation of India. For over 30 years, Julius has been committed to achieving excellence in the fields of martial arts and human potential development, and has helped a wide variety of people from all over the world achieve health, vitality, personal empowerment and spiritual growth. Prior to commencing his Aikido training, Julius applied himself to the study of Shotokan Karate under the late Paul Guerillot Sensei (1930 - 1995), an innovative budo master who combined savat, karate and knife fighting techniques to create a system that he called foot and fist boxing. Guerillot Sensei, who was also the first kendo instructor in Victoria, Australia, often described karate as a yoga in action. He stated that the main purpose of karate was to create and control a flow of energy rather than self-defence. "Self-defence was not the essence of karate", he said, "it was merely a side benefit." Aib Sensei's Aikido lineage can be traced back to the founder of Aikido through the late Morihiro Saito Sensei (1928 - 2002), who trained with the founder for 24 years during the post World War II evolution of Aikido in Iwama, Japan, and was appointed Chief Instructor of the Iwama dojo, and caretaker of the Aiki Shrine after the founder's death. Saito Sensei was a true modern master who devoted his life to the unadulterated dissemination of the founder's teachings.
While living in India, Julius founded the Aikido Takemusu Federation of India (ATFI), and undertook an intensive study of yoga under the private tuition of a modern yoga master, Javad Khansalar. After returning to Australia in 1997, he founded World Aikido-Yoga (WAY), a non-profit organization dedicated to researching, teaching and developing the spiritual art of Aikido-Yoga©, a unique and dynamic martial art form that seamlessly integrates Aikido with the ancient science of Yoga to create a truly unique discipline for anyone seriously interested in studying personal development and spiritual growth. Aikido-Yoga© is a unique and effective martial art form that seamlessly integrates Aikido with the ancient science of Yoga and the modern science of human effectiveness to create a truly unique art form for anyone seriously interested in personal development and spiritual growth. For over thirty years, Julius has helped a wide variety of people, including elite athletes, professional dancers, business executives and companies maximise their performance through a unique combination of eastern wisdom and pragmatic western personal effectiveness tools and techniques.
